Safeguard Science Discovery Tour in Singapore

I can never be complacent when it comes to my family’s health and protection. This is one of the many realizations that I have brought home with me from our recent visit to Singapore. No, we didn’t simply go there for a 3-day vacation. Me and my youngest, Elijah, were very lucky to be part of the Safeguard Science Discovery Tour at the Singapore Innovation Center last March 21, 2017.

This trip took us through an amazing journey of discovering the truth on how germs are present everywhere. Literally! Well, as moms, we know this already. Germs are definitely not news to us. Seeing these dreaded disease-causing microorganisms under a different spectrum was such an eye-opener.
Even our kids, having the first-hand investigative experience, have learned the importance of washing their hands with Safeguard to get rid of germs and maintain cleanliness even after washing. I’m meticulous when it comes to personal hygiene and sanitation at home. Prior to the trip, representatives of Procter and Gamble (P&G) and Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. (PAMET) took swabs of germ samples from the toys and remote control from our home. It’s overwhelming to get to know the different kinds of germs that causes various infections.
Did you know that 80% of all infections, from the common cold and flu to venereal disease and Ebola fever, are transmitted by people touching one another or touching objects that the others have touched? Worst, imagine your children putting their fingers in their mouth without washing.
Yuck! Exactly how my Elijah reacted when he, together with the other kids, were brought to a room to do some germ-hunting activity. It looked like these kids won’t be touching some stuff and will be avoiding corners in the house after that. Germaphobia may have also been developed through that process. And not just them. We saw it with our very own eyes, too. We realized that though our homes are seemingly spotless, germs still lurk everywhere. They are just simply inevitable, easily transmitted, and disgusting!

Germ hunting: lots of germs spotted on a toy car

And our kids are constantly in contact with these harmful microorganisms – when they play with their toys, use electronic gadgets, and while doing other activities. So, what can we do? Of course, it is impossible to disinfect our entire surroundings.
As super moms, our super power can only come from the #1 family germ protection soap, Safeguard. We need superior defense from these threats.

Our tour was filled with exciting and relevant episodes…
Matchy matchy!
Our lab gowns even had our names on them.
Angelica Caranza, Microbiology Section Head of the P&G Singapore Innovation Center talks about different types of germs and the diseases and infections they can cause.

Mr. Ronaldo Puno, President of PAMET, speaking about the kinds of germs found in our homes.
The reveal of the single, clean, white hand.
11 petri dishes hold samples of synthetic skin not treated with any soap or treated with beauty soaps from the Philippines. These petri dishes show Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli growth. In the midst of the 11 petri dishes is one that clearly stands out. This petri dish holds the synthetic skin treated with Safeguard that has inhibited germ growth.
We also witnessed how a Safeguard soap is tested and sampled in the Safeguard Laboratory. The ingredients to every superior masterpiece are absolutely of the highest quality to provide the highest protection that’s incomparable to other soaps.

It’s so cool to have our personalized Safeguard soap, too. Who would have known that it was even possible?
Surely, Safeguard made sure our tour would be unforgettable.
Our little scientists got the chance to do an experiment as well.
They had to submerge the rose petals into two plates, one has Brand X and the other has Safeguard soap.
This was to test how the gentle the soaps are.
Well, it turned out that Brand X was too harsh it turned the red petal to black.

Safeguard guarantees that it is tough when it comes to germs but very gentle to our and our kids’ skin.

We learned so much about protecting our family from germs and diseases by encouraging proper hygiene, frequent hand washing, and the use of Safeguard. It is imperative for every member of the family to use Safeguard because not only that it kills germs effectively, it also prevents their regrowth. Safeguard provides long-lasting protection for 50 years now. There’s no doubt that it is highly recommended by health experts because it stays true to its commitment to shield the family by investing in research and innovations to address the risks of our modern environment. I grew up with Safeguard and using it has already became a tradition that have been passed through generations in my family.
