How to Do More With Less

It wasn’t when I drove my first car that I felt the happiest. It wasn’t when I won that cool phone I felt the luckiest.
It wasn’t when I travelled the world that I felt contented. Rather, it was the simplest things that actually made me feel special.

Now that I am a mother of three boys, I look back to all that has happened in my life, both the good and bad, and I realize that it was when my son had a successful surgery that I felt the happiest. It was when I had a problem and my mom was there I felt the luckiest. And it is when I’m able to give back to the less fortunate that I feel contented.

None of these events included materialistic things but it was during these events when I overflowed with happiness and gratefulness. I have a lot to be thankful for. My life has been nothing but great these past few years. I am so blessed by our Lord that I am able to share it with the children of Hospicio de San Jose every year for half a decade now. I thank Kuya Marc, my brother-in-law, for opening the door of giving back to my once closed mind. Because of this, I am able to do more with less. I was able to bring true happiness to the children by giving them small gifts and by simply being there this holiday. Instead of buying luxurious stuffs that couldn’t even make my smile lasts for more than a day, I was able to make beautiful memories with the children that could last a lifetime.
It’s true when they say that it is better to give than to receive because the mere fact that you have the ability to give is a blessing itself. I want the ripple of giving to continue and make its way to those in need. I hope that we can all help radiate the gift of giving and give up the ambitious things that lures evilness to this world. An act of goodness has a billion of faces and doesn’t require money.

It can come in a form of helping save the environment by recycling and not spending too much electricity, reducing world hunger by minimizing food wastage, or donating your old clothes to the orphanage, so do not limit yourself.
Christmas is the day we were blessed by the almighty Father of his son, Jesus Christ, so it is only right to give back to Him through helping other people during this holiday.
Just imagine how you can do a lot more even with less money.  I am positive that by then, authentic euphoria will come knocking on your door and stays in your life for good.
